As a result of participating in this workshop, attendees will be able to:

• Develop strategic-thinking skills in themselves and others

 Advanced Issues in Strategic Planning and Thinking/ One-Day Workshop

Objectives:

As a result of participating in this workshop, attendees will be able to:

• Recognize the difference between strategy formulation and strategy implementation
• Develop a shared vision for their organization
• Identify the core values or guiding principles that support the shared vision and accomplish the strategic agenda
• Conduct a SWOT analysis that provides a better understanding of the organization’s internal and external environment
• Select the key strategic issues that become the organization’s strategic agenda
• Develop action plans that move the organization toward its vision and mission
• Deal effectively with emergent issues and an unknowable future

 Developing Strategic Thinkers/Half-Day Workshop

Objectives:

As a result of participating in this workshop, attendees will be able to:

• Describe the role that strategic thinking plays in the long-term success of the organization
• Identify the competencies needed for strategic thinking
• Develop a mind map that identifies key strategic issues that face the organization today and are likely to affect it in the future
• Develop a personal plan for adjusting current and future decisions and behaviors to those of a strategic thinker

Problem Solving and Decision Making/One-Day Workshop

Objectives:

As a result of participating in this workshop, attendees will be able to:

• Identify common obstacles to effective problem solving and decision making
• Apply the principles of effective problem solving and decision making to their own situation
• Describe the seven-step model for strategic problem solving
• Apply that model to a specific situation
• Write a clear problem statement
• Describe the seven-step model for strategic decision making
• Discuss strategies and methods for involving diverse stakeholders in strategic problem solving and decision making

 
Tools for Strategic Problem Solving and Decision Making/One-Day Workshop

Objectives:

As a result of participating in this workshop, attendees will be able to:

• Identify more than a dozen tools and methods for strategic problem solving and decision making
• Practice and apply at least six of the tools to the issues, challenges, or problems currently facing the organization
• Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each of the tools
• Identify future opportunities for applying the tools to their own situation, challenges, and opportunities
